We previously owned a small hotel in the Paarl so we have been spoilt by the selection in the Cape Winelands. We are fortuned that when we moved to De Kelders, Gansbaai to open a Guesthouse on the Overberg Whale Coast we now live in the newest wine region in South Africa.
So the wine list is very partial to wine produce in the Walker Bay, Elim and Cape Agulhas appellations. With wines like Bouchard Finlayson´s - Kaaimansgat Chardonnay from Hemel & Aarde Valley close to Hermanus or a Sauvignon Blanc from the wine estate with the longest name Hermanuspietersfontein. From the Stanford area ( 15min from De Kelders) the award wining Raka Biography Shiraz and crisp white wines from vineyards like Quoin Point around Elim and Cape Agulhas.
We kept some old favourites like the Wild Yeast Chardonnay from Springfield close to Robertson and Môreson Magia; a gorgeous Bordeaux style red. Villiera near Paarl supplies us with their first-rate Chenin Blanc. Our MCC Brut we get from Steenberg in Constantia Brandy and Grappa we source from our friends at" Oude Wellington Estate" on the way up the Bains kloof pass.
