A South African twist to the ultimate dessert!!!!

Well what to say? Definitely Stanley’s favourite dessert being it the traditional one speckled with thousands of vanilla seeds, Cardamom infused (Brydon @ Havercroft’s) or the latest flavour added by our chef of the season Dan! Something sweet to brighten up any occasion.

The original recipe comes out of the Sarie (a well known Afrikaans magazine).
In the last 5 years or so that I bake it, I played around with it. The cake recipe is a good base for a wonderful wheat free cake. Substitute the cake flour with rice, potato or any other flour that you enjoy baking with. (more…)

That something so simple can be so delicious. Just cooked pumpkin mixed with a few things, fried and sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. Eaten as an accompaniment to some other dish or on its own as a desert with vanilla ice cream, for me it will always be a favourite. (more…)
